Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has finally spoken up about his situation at Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old defender has revealed that José Mourinho’s criticisms as “hard to take,” but further mentioned that he will fight for his place like a professional, and will prove his manager wrong.

Shaw has always been in the midst of a heavy criticism, and in the process, he has lost his place in the squad, with Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian and Ashley Young ahead of him in the pecking order. Shaw did get his chance against Everton, but his performance wasn’t good enough to impress the Portuguese tactician.

Speaking of Shaw’s performance, Mourinho said that the left-back was “using his body with my brain”. However, the youngster did help his side win the late penalty against Everton, and he has now claimed that he will ‘fight to the last’ to win his place back.

The former Southampton man stated: “Sometimes I tend to keep it on the low, but obviously with the stuff that has been going on it is hard for me to take because deep down that is not me as a person.

“Like Jose said, he wants to see me fighting. And I will fight to the last second because I want to be here for the club. I want to play for the manager and I want to help this team get back to the top. I have missed it so much, being on the pitch. I really do love football and I love to play.”

Shaw also spoke about the fans and how supportive they were throughout the course.

“The fans have been incredible the last couple of days with what has been going on,” he added. “They have been so good to me. That’s why I love them. It’s easy for them to see those comments and turn on me. Do you know what I mean?

“But the passion they have always shown to me is amazing and something I don’t and won’t forget for a long time because it means a lot to me. I don’t want to let them down and I’ll fight for each and every one of the fans as well.”
