Real Madrid are reportedly confident that Neymar could be pondering over a move away from Barcelona.

However, Manchester United have long been on the hunt to sign Neymar, and British media claims they will make a move for him this summer to find a long-term replacement for Wayne Rooney.

The Brazilian superstar received a sluggish red card as Barcelona suffered a shocking 2-0 defeat at Malaga on Saturday. That result leaves them sitting second in the table, three points behind Real Madrid but having played a game more than their famous rivals.

And, according to Diario Gol, Real president Florentino Perez believes Neymar will look to leave the Nou Camp if Barca’s struggles continue. He apparently thinks that the former Santos star has surpassed Lionel Messi as Barca’s best player.

United boss Jose Mourinho is said to be keeping a close eye on his situation. The report also suggests that Cristiano Ronaldo would love to welcome Neymar at Bernabeu.

Neymar has made 26 appearances in the league this season, scoring nine goals and assisting 13 in the process. There are still over four years left to run on his contract in Catalonia.

But few reports in Spanish media claim all is not well between Neymar and Messi. While the Argentine superstar is at Barcelona, the Brazilian feels he cannot become the club’s talisman.
