With Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba being the stars at Old Trafford this season, Gary Neville had a different take when giving his opinion on who has been the best Red Devil so far this season.

According to the Ex-United right-back, a player that plays in a similar position right now, Antonio Valencia, is currently topping the list for being United’s greatest player this season.

With Zlatan’s 28 goals for the club so far, and Pogba’s world’s most expensive tag, it was a gutsy statement from Neville to claim Valencia as Mourinho’s best player this season, but in terms of performances, consistency, and solidity, his decision can be deemed as highly understandable and slightly brilliant.

The Ecuadorian has put in stellar performances this year, and by doing so, has quietly gone on and done his business time and again, making the right-back position his own entirely in the process.

While commentating during the the Manchester Derby last night, which saw both clubs come out with a point each after a goalless draw, Gary Neville revealed his feelings as he said: “He (Valencia) would be my player of the season if I was casting my vote.”

Antonio Valencia was recently called the world’s best right-back by Mourinho, and after receiving such high praise from the the Red Devils’ greatest ever and most loyal right-back, he can be proud of himself as a Manchester United player this season.

The 31-year-old himself summed up his season so far by claiming that all he does is work hard, and feels like a young boy playing in a new position.
