Everton Consider Swapping Lukaku For Rooney
Everton are considering the possibility of swapping Romelu Lukaku for Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney, according to Daily Star.
Lukaku, who finished just behind eventual winner Harry Kane in the race for the Premier League golden boot, has already confirmed that he is ready to leave the Toffees by refusing to sign a new contract extension, despite the huge salary that was offered to him. As a result, the club is now on the lookout for a replacement for their star striker.
The perfect opportunity could arise in the form of a swap deal, should Manchester United be interested in signing the Belgian forward. Wayne Rooney seems destined to bring an end to his United career after 13 seasons glittered with success and silverware.
In a recent interview following his side’s triumph in the Europa League final against Ajax, the 31-year-old striker admitted that there are a lot of offers on the table for him, and that United and Everton are the only two Premier League clubs he will ever play for.

ROADBLOCK: James Rodriguez’s Man Utd Move Depends On Wayne Rooney
Everton boss Ronald Koeman has previously stated his desire to bring Rooney back to the club that he supported and played for up till the age of 18, and with the English forward’s recent admissions, it comes as little surprise that he is being linked with a move back to his boyhood club.
Reports now suggest that the Merseyside club could take advantage of the Red Devils’ interest in signing Lukaku by demanding Rooney in return. The Toffees value their striker at a mammoth, world record £100 million and that is likely to deter potential suitors.
The Belgian’s old club, Chelsea, are also reportedly interested in signing him, but Everton are likely to be inclined to selling him to United if the Old Trafford club agree to letting their captain depart.
