Ex-Monaco Starlet To PSG: Anthony Martial Eyes Summer Exit
Anthony Martial is reportedly set to leave Manchester United, and the forward is planning to inform manager Jose Mourinho of his wish soon.
According to a report in The Gambling Times, Martial seems to be unhappy with life at United, and wants a move elsewhere. Moreover, the Red Devils will not be acting as a hindrance if the player wants to leave.
The 21-year-old versatile forward endured a difficult second season at Old Trafford, and his future is now in doubt. Despite finishing as United’s top scorer after joining from Monaco under Louis van Gaal 2 seasons ago, Martial was marginalised under Mourinho last term.
The Frenchman had to fight for a place against Marcus Rashford on the left flank, with talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic taking the centre stage until his injury. And with Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata expected to join United in the weeks to come, Martial will see himself limited to the left wing position once again.
Furthermore, Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic is also being monitored by the English giants, and if United do get him, then Martial’s fight for a place on the flanks will have more competition.
Reports claim that Arsenal are keeping tabs on the France international’s situation, and could go for Martial if Alex Oxlade Chamberlain leaves the club. French club Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on the ex-Monaco starlet.
Jose Mourinho had stated earlier that Martial is the future of Manchester United, and considers the player a vital figure at United. The youngster did face criticism from Mourinho last season, which led to an upward trajectory in his performances towards the latter half of the season.
