Manchester United have reportedly submitted a massive €80 million bid to Real Madrid for their Colombian star James Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, who was left out for Real’s Champions League final against Juventus, is currently being watched by several European giants, after the 25-year-old decided to move away from Los Blancos. Rodriguez is reportedly dissatisfied with his current status in Spain, after having made Zinedine Zidane’s line-up just 22 times last season.

Premier League giants Manchester United have been heavily linked with Rodriguez over the past few months, and they are now said to be closing in on the midfielder. According to Mediaset Premium (via The Sun), the Red Devils are prepared to pay €80 million (£70m) in order to obtain Rodriguez’s signature.

The Champions League winners are believed to have put a £66m price tag on Rodriguez, and United’s current bid surely seems to be enough to bring the star playmaker to Old Trafford this summer. And with this offer, United also seem to have overtaken AC Milan, who were thought to be leading the race for the 25-year-old.

United gaffer Jose Mourinho is keen on making several marquee signings in order to catapult the English giants to the top of the Premier League table, and wants to build a squad with high quality ahead of their return to Champions League football next term.

Rodriguez, who netted 6 goals and bagged 8 assists last season, is currently under contract at the Bernabeu until 2020.
