Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be staying with the Bundesliga giants for the 2017-18 season, according to the club’s sporting director, Michael Zorc.

Aubameyang has been one of the hottest properties in the transfer market this season, and had garnered plenty of attention from several European clubs, as well as teams from the Chinese Super League. However, the striker is set to stay put at BVB, and has started training for the upcoming season under new manager Peter Bosz.

According to WAZ (via Goal), Zorc stated that for the time being, the club is assuming that their in-form player will stay at the Ruhr Valley.

The director was quoted as saying: “For now we assume that Aubameyang will stay, he said. Zorc added that the club is open for talks but only until a certain point of time. We arranged with him that we are open for talks but only until a certain point of time.”

Aubameyang finished last campaign as the leading scorer in the Bundesliga with 31 goals, and top clubs are said to be interested in his services. The Gabon international had earlier voiced his desire to play for Real Madrid at some point in his career, but the Spanish Champions are yet to show any kind of solid interest.

Dortmund have started their pre-season training, and the star forward now has much lesser time to make a switch to a potential suitor, provided any offer comes along soon. Bosz’s men face rivals Bayern Munich on August 5 in the DFB Pokal Cup, and start their league campaign two weeks later.
