Serge Aurier could be on his way to Manchester United this summer, as his future in France begins to look bleak.

The right-back has been left behind along with Hatem Ben Arfa and Grzegorz Krychowiak, while the rest of the squad has flown out to the United States for Paris Saint-Germain’s pre-season tour. This clearly indicates that he is no longer wanted by the Parisians, and the signing of Dani Alves now appears to have more significance to it.

Aurier has been linked with a move away from the club in the past, and now could prove to be the best time for him to make a switch. Manchester United have shown an interest in signing the unwanted defender, as they seek to bring in some competition for Antonio Valencia.

Matteo Darmian has been linked with a transfer to Italy, and Mourinho is keen on strengthening his options at the back. The Portuguese boss has already admitted that he is still expecting the club to bring in two more players this summer.

According to French news outlet L’Equipe, United could nab Aurier for a fee between £17.5 million and £21 million – a relatively low price compared to the ridiculous amounts being demanded by clubs for their players these days.

The Ivorian’s move may come with a few complications, though. He is known for getting himself caught up in some controversy or the other, and that will be a big stumbling block.

The full-back failed to take part in the Champions League clash against Arsenal at the Emirates last season, as he was banned from entering the UK after being convicted of assaulting a police officer. Mourinho knows that if he is to sign Aurier, he will have to try and tame a wild attitude too.
