Real Madrid are edging closer to completing the incredible transfer of Kylian Mbappe for a scarcely believable £120 million fee.

The 18-year-old star has been at the center of a transfer saga that has gone on since the end of last season, and a deal finally looks set to be agreed.

Real have been desperate to sign him after his magnificent break-through season for Monaco last term, but the French club slapped a price tag on him that would shatter all records in terms of transfer fees paid to acquire a player.

In order to finance the move though, Los Blancos have had to raise funds. This has led to a massive summer clear-out, which has seen the likes of Fabio Coentrao move to Sporting Lisbon on loan, Pepe move to Besiktas for free, and the Mariano Diaz, Burgui, and Diego Llorente leave for Olympique Lyon, Alaves, and Real Sociedad respectively.

Alvaro Morata recently signed for Chelsea in a £60 million move as well, while James Rodriguez joined Bayern Munich on loan. Right-back Danilo is set to follow suit in the coming days too, as Pep Guardiola has shown an interest in bringing him to Manchester City.

All these moves have seen Real earn a majority of the money that would be required to sign Mbappe, and they are prepared to go all out for the teenager.

The French striker has previously stated that a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu would be a dream come true, and that dream looks more and more likely to become a reality, as ridiculous as the transfer fee may be.

Real have also offered to hand the reigning French champions Karim Benzema as a part of the deal for his fellow countryman. However, this would reduce the amount of money that Real would have to pay, which is not in the interests of Monaco, who have insisted that they are not interested in Benzema.

According to Sun, Real have already reached an agreement with Monaco and Mbappe over a transfer, and the move is set to be completed in the coming days.
