The transfer deadline day is almost upon us, and it is only customary that we brace ourselves with some high profile names being linked with each other for one last time this year.
Following suit, it is being reported that Manchester United have upped the ante in their pursuit of Welshman Gareth Bale.
Spanish reports claim that the Red Devils have increased their bid to £97m for the mercurial winger, as Real Madrid were unwilling to let go of their iconic player for £93m, which was United’s first bid for the Welshman.
Jose Mourinho’s admiration of the 27-year-old is not hidden, as the Portuguese has tried to acquire the services of the speedster, but has been dejected each time due to his unavailability.
Earlier, it was being claimed by several news outlets that Bale reportedly informed his good friend Luka Modric about his intentions of leaving the Santiago Bernabeu. The Welshman was allegedly receptive of making a return to the Premier League, with Manchester United being the frontrunners to land him.
What has fueled the speculation even more is Bale’s recent run of poor performances for Los Blancos, following which he has come under constant scrutiny at the hands of Real Madrid fans.
However, not much has been spoken about Bale’s move to Manchester United since then, and it seems highly unlikely that he will quit his Real Madrid career so unceremoniously.
