Real Madrid have finalised a new contract for Isco, and it will be formally announced in the coming days, club president Florentino Perez confirmed whilst also denying reports of interest from Barcelona.

Many fans went into a meltdown back when the first report suggesting an interest from Barca for the Spaniard surfaced. Though the move seemed plausible and even attractive, Perez has denied any possibility of this move, categorizing it as mere speculation.

Meanwhile, Isco, whose contract extension was expected to be announced soon after the Spanish Super Cup under reported release clause of a whopping €700m, has now agreed to commit his future to Los Blancos, insists the club president.

“Isco came here very young and has only improved. What we thought he was going to become is what he is going to be,” Perez said to Cadena Ser, as quoted by Marca“His renewal will be announced shortly in the coming days. Two years ago people said it was necessary to sell Isco, but that would now have been a mistake.”

During the interview, the Spaniard also shed some light on the midfielder’s links to their El Clasico rivals.

“Barça have not tried to take any player from us this summer. In summer a lot is said. If we took note of what was said two years ago, we would have sold Isco and now we would have a huge misfortune. With Ceballos, there was competition from Barcelona, but with [Luka] Modric, Isco and [Marco] Asensio there was nothing,” said Perez.

The talented midfielder has found new importance in the Galacticos squad, to an extent of starting ahead of Gareth Bale in the Champions League final. Though he used to be a common sight on the Bernabeu bench not long ago, the midfielder is soon becoming an emerging fan-favourite, alongside youngster Marcos Asensio.

Isco has openly admitted his desire to stay with Real for ‘many years,’ and he will soon be seen doing just that. The 25-year-old is expected to extend his stay at the Spanish capital, though the terms of his new contract are still unclear.
