Ryan Giggs has revealed his firm belief that Marcus Rashford will become one of the best players in the world in a few years.
Rashford burst onto the scene during Louis van Gaal’s final season at the helm of Old Trafford, when Giggs was still at the club, serving as the Dutchman’s assistant manager.
The Welshman knows what it is like to graduate from United’s prestigious academy as an exciting youngster and make it on the big stage, having won every major trophy available across an unfathomable 963 appearances for the Red Devils.
Having witnessed the beginning of Rashford’s meteoric rise first hand, Giggs has revealed his admiration for the 19-year-old sensation, and the legend is confident that the youngster’s approach to the game, coupled with his natural talent, will make him one of the world’s best in a few years time.
“For a United fan like me, it’s exciting to see,” Giggs told the reporters at the Premier Futsal tournament in Dubai.
“He’s a real Manchester United player, he gets fans on their feet. If he gets the ball there’s always an expectation. When I’m watching him at Old Trafford, you want him to have the ball because you think something can happen. It’s not always going to come off but he tries things and that is exciting.
“The history of the club demands that players from Manchester come through and the fans love that. He is a brilliant professional and a brilliant person. That, and having the ability he does, is why I’ll always think he’ll go right to the top.”
