Manchester United are all set to face stiff competition for Sergej Milinković-Savić in the upcoming transfer window, as the Lazio star has come under the radar of several clubs due to his impressive performances for the Serie A side. In fact, the one prominent club among the interested parties is one that United are all too familiar with.
As per the player’s agent, Mateja Kezman, Manchester City have expressed their desire to make an attempt to sign the highly rated midfielder.
Speaking to Radio CRC, the representative, who also happens to be a former Chelsea striker, revealed: “There’s been a lot of interest from several clubs, such as those in Madrid, Manchester, and Milan. But he wants to be happy, to play to keep growing and become one of the best in his role.”
This is in addition to Juventus as well, who will hope that the common league, where they reign supreme, will be a factor in their favor.
However, Kezman also reckoned: “It’s difficult to see him away from Lazio, where he has started the season very well, but I can’t rule out him leaving.”
Lazio’s sporting director, Igli Tare, seconded this, but with an interesting note: “We have received offers from him, some of which are way over £60million. He signed a new contract six months ago and this means he’s happy here.”
The 22-year-old, who joined the Italian side from Genk in 2015, will have a momentous choice to make. A move to any of these clubs, all of which are giants in their respective leagues, will be no small task. Staying at Lazio will be a wise choice, but a move will display the youngster’s strong intent to make a mark in the footballing world.
