The strength of Manchester United’s squad has, amongst other things, remained in the creativity of their wide men.

A commendable amount of legends have been deployed in that area to great heights of success, and the Red Devils seem perpetually on the lookout for their next great winger.

With the January window on the cusp of opening, it would seem that Mourinho might have found his man, and in all frankness, he could arrive at Old Trafford for a relatively modest sum.

According to a report in Sunday Times, Bordeaux’s Malcolm is under Mourinho’s January radar. Further, the winger is priced at £26 million, and at just 20 years of age, the youngster could prove to be quite a bargain for the English giants.

Having moved to the French side from Corinthians back in 2016, the Brazilian has quickly made an impact. In the seasons since, his knack for scoring and creating chances have been quite apparent, and in this season so far, he has found the net 7 times and provided 4 assists in the Ligue 1, all in a mere 15 appearances.

At this rate, a move to Old Trafford would be a tremendous step up for Malcolm both in terms of glamor and potential, to develop into one of the game’s finest players.

However, a closer look at the conditions currently prevalent at Old Trafford is a must if this transfer is to be taken seriously.

With Mourinho currently electing to deploy Martial and Rashford as his attacking wingers, to a varied degree of success, is another youngster really what is required for the Portuguese tactician?

Further, the thing about young players is how fickle their rates of success are when moving from league to league, and the English game is not easy to adjust to, and harder still to excel at if one is not proficient in it from a young age.

All in all, the transfer seems like a likely one to occur, and could open a host of questions, not all pleasant, for Mourinho to address to his squad and supporters.
