Marouane Fellaini is set to snub a contract renewal offer from Manchester United in favour of a move to China.

The Belgian midfielder has been linked with a move away for quite a while now, but his mind hadn’t appeared to have been made up.

However, if the claims from Express Sport‘s sources are anything to go by, he has finally taken a decision, and it appears to be one in favour of a move away from Old Trafford.

Fellaini has been in Manchester for close to five years now, making 145 appearances in the process, along with a goal tally of 19 and 10 assists to boot.

He has endured a mixed relationship with the fans, having been dubbed by many as the symbol of the failure that was the David Moyes era. However, he turned his career around under Jose Mourinho, establishing himself as an important member of the squad.

With the World Cup on the horizon though, the 30-year-old has opted to make a change for the betterment of his career both internationally and domestically.

His game time has significantly dropped since the arrival of Nemanja Matic in the summer, and that has consequently put his place with the Belgian national team in doubt. Hence, it appears as though his decision to leave is justified.

Rumour has it that Fellaini has received an offer from China, while several clubs in the Turkish Super Lig are also said to be interested. Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly prepared to offer him a lengthy contract offer as well, so he is by no means short of options that pay good money.

The former Everton star is not perturbed by his situation at the moment, and is not desperate to leave. United prefer to keep him till the end of the season, but might also sell him in January to get some money from the move.

The midfielder would be satisfied with whatever decision the club takes, but he is almost certain to be on his way out of the club before the start of next season.

“Fellaini will not extend his contract,” a source close to the midfielder told Express Sport.

“He does not prefer to leave in January or in the summer but Man Utd will have the final say over what happens next month. He has an offer from China and could leave for more money.”
