After exhibiting a sensational spell under Louis Van Gaal, Luke Shaw got familiarised to faltering since the advent of Jose Mourinho, with multiple injuries ravishing his consistency and reputation.
Although he was allowed to operate on the field once in a while, the ex-Chelsea tactician publically reprimanded the English international owing to the underwhelming performances he showcased. The starlet’s progression at Old Trafford has been nothing short of a series of shortcomings.
Although his future looked bleak, in a surprising turn of events, the 22-year-old has regained the faith of the Portuguese, evident from the fact that he has started appearing a lot more in the Red Devils’ fixtures for the past few months.

The youngster has now retrieved his fallen reputation with a string of quality performances, and has even had the 12-month extension option in his contract triggered the previous week.
Regardless, the talented left-back is now holding talks with the Special One over inking a new long-term contract at the Mancunian outfit.
According to Sun Sport, an Old Trafford source said: “Luke has had a series of one-on-one chats with the boss. He told him he will sanction an extended deal if he can continue to improve and make his mark.
“It’s an amazing turnaround for him after everything that’s happened. Luke is in a much better frame of mind now. He feels he has a future here despite everything that has been said and talked about.”
With the availability of Shaw at his disposal, Mourinho has a lot more options to play from, which will make the team’s left flank function further smoothly.
