Umtiti have been regularly linked with the Red Devils over the past few months, and as per the report by Sport, the highly-rated defender could be headed towards Old Trafford come the summer transfer window.
The Spanish outlet claimed that United are all set to offer the 24-year-old a mega contract at the end of the season, which would see him bank a colossal £9 million per year.
Red Devils’ gaffer Jose Mourinho is keen on strengthening his side’s backline, and thus wants to add more defensive players to his squad. Despite bringing in Victor Lindelof from Benfica last summer, the Portuguese now has his eyes set on the Barca defender.

A partnership between Eric Bailly and Samuel Umtiti seems to be the way how the Special One wants to build United’s new foundation. Mourinho has already made it clear that he would make some serious changes at Old Trafford next season, but ruled out signing any more forwards.
Meanwhile, the French centre-back, whose contract is set to expire in 2021, has also stalled on an extension, as he wants a major bump in his current wages at Camp Nou.
Also, Umtiti has a buy-out clause of just £50 million, which, considering the inflation in today’s transfer market, is relatively cheap.
The France international has made 44 appearances for the Catalan giants since completing his move from Lyon in 2016, and has established himself as one of the game’s top defenders in the process.
