Explained: How Carrick And De Gea Are Saving Paul Pogba’s Career
Paul Pogba has seen better days in his Manchester United career. Arriving from Juventus with much hope pinned upon him, the Frenchman was a delight for the Old Trafford faithful to witness.
Apart from his prowess on the field, his knack for trying to get transfers to the club had also dubbed him ‘Agent Pogba’.
While his first season back wasn’t the best, it was generally understood that he would lead the side for years to come, and the team would function best when built around him.
Unfortunately, the past few weeks, and perhaps even months, have been utterly dreadful for the erstwhile midfield maestro, save of course for a scintillating derby performance against Manchester City.

Mourinho has publicly criticized him, allegedly warned him, and has gone as far as depriving the £89 million-rated star of game time.

All this has led to speculation that he will be offloaded in the summer to come, and PSG and Real Madrid are believed to be interested parties, after his agent sounded European clubs about the possibility of a summer move.
In view of this, some of the senior players have decided to take matters into their own hands, and as per Daily Star, Michael Carrick and David De Gea held a private chat with Pogba in a bid to try and solve troubles between him and Mourinho.

A club source was quoted saying: “There isn’t a problem with his training or anything like that, while all the stuff that surrounds him off the pitch is being used as a convenient excuse against him.
“But there are problems there for him and two of the senior players took it upon themselves to speak to him in the hope it would help. The concern is that the issue appears to be getting worse and in danger of having a negative effect on the squad.”
What does the future hold for Pogba beyond this season?
