Manchester United may offer Nemanja Matic to Tottenham Hotspur in a deal that could see Christian Eriksen go the other way, reports the Athletic.

The Serbian international has found himself out-of-favour in Manchester as he fell down the pecking order since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over.

Scott McTominay and Andreas Pereira seem to be higher up in the Norwegian’s preference. And Matic is also said to be no longer interested in staying at United.

Meanwhile, the ex-Chelsea star is out of contract at the end of the season and there have been no indications of a contract renewal. It is likely that United offload the midfielder in January. It is believed that the Serbian likes the prospect of being reunited with Jose Mourinho in North London.

On the other hand, Eriksen has set his sights on leaving London quickly. Even with the arrival of new management, the playmaker hasn’t changed his mind. It was reported that Real Madrid were keen on the Danish international during the summer, but a move ultimately failed to materialise.

The former Ajax man has been one of the Red Devils’ long-term target for a couple of years now. And maybe soon they may become a reality as the Old Trafford outfit are set to offer their Serbian midfielder in a deal to acquire the Spurs star.

The Danish midfielder will be allowed to open talks with European clubs in a January as he enters the climax of his Tottenham contract. So the Mancunians need to act fast.
