Odion Ighalo Likely To Leave Man United Next Week
Following his arrival back in January, Odion Ighalo has performed well for Manchester United, having showcased a decent form in front of goal. Accordingly, they were looking to secure his services for a couple of months more by initiating a deal with his parent club.
Disappointing the Mancunian supporters however, Shanghai Shenhua have allegedly turned down the English side’s requests to keep the veteran striker at Old Trafford for another three months.
The Daily Mail reports that in order to prepare for the start of the delayed Chinese Super League season, Shanghai Shenhua are demanding the star’s presence in China as soon as possible.
Ever since the departure of Romelu Lukaku, United were on the lookout for suitable competition for Anthony Martial. Although Ighalo was brought in during the winter for filling the hole temporarily, his performances caught the attention of the United officials which eventually resulted in the loan extension request.
Nevertheless, if the Red Devils fail to turn around the current situation in transfer talks, the player will return to Shanghai when his loan ends in a few days time.
Meanwhile, the Chinese club being desperate to get Odion Ighalo back, offered him a two-year contract extension until 2024 on a better wage deal of £400,000-a-week.
