Manchester United could be in the market for Thiago Alcantara in addition to Donny van de Beek as per the latest reports.

After a long time brooding over the Jadon Sancho saga, Manchester United fans now have a new potential to pursue two promising midfielders.

Donny van de Beek was a fresh development this weekend once he was omitted from the squad during Ajax’s club friendlies.

However, now another name has emerged as a potential one that the club will sign, with prior links existing.

As per Fabrizio Romano, there is a chance that Thiago Alcantara will be looking at a club apart from Liverpool for his Bayern Munich exit. Essentially, it is understood that the Premier League champions are unwilling to meet Munich’s asking price for the midfielder, which is in the range of €30 million, despite Jurgen Klopp wanting the player

As such, the Brazilian who wishes to play in England could be open for other clubs to come and acquire him. Romano’s claim was backed up by Christian Falk of Bild, who also seconded the past claim that Munich sources saw United as a party for the 29-year-old prior itself.

Apart from the two reputed sources, a Norwegian source which allegedly enjoys a good track record when it comes to news pertaining to the Red Devils adds that United are certainly looking to sign Thiago. Further, the same claim makes it seem that the two English giants will battle it out for the player with the Bundesliga giants expecting an offer to be tabled in the coming week.

When the Champions League final took place, Thiago’s departure to Liverpool was thought to be an assured affair. However, these developments could point to a long-drawn saga.

At the same time, it isn’t entirely inconceivable that United are being dragged into the picture solely to pressurize the Merseyside Reds to make a bid.
