Mason Greenwood had positive things to say about his soon-to-be Manchester United teammate Donny van de Beek.

The Red Devils’ successful acquisition of the Dutch youngster has sent waves across the footballing fraternity. The former Ajax starlet is a promising player and the fact that Ole Gunnar Solskjær and company succeeded in securing his signature in a relatively hassle-free manner has also been widely lauded.

The 23-year-old’s signing has been largely celebrated by his new teammates, with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes already reacting to the transfer with their social media activity.

Former Red Devil Robin van Persie also had his say about the addition of his compatriot to Old Trafford.

Now, a player who has often been compared to van Persie also has had his say.

Mason Greenwood appears to be looking forward to playing alongside van de Beek and views the Dutchman positively. He is quoted to have said the following: “That’s for the club to sort out [speaking about the transfer] but I have seen some of his stuff and he looks like a good, promising player, so that’s good.”

A curt and simple evaluation but one that speaks volumes nonetheless.

Greenwood himself was United’s breakout star last campaign, equalling goal-scoring records of a teenager held by the likes of Wayne Rooney and George Best.

There were certainly murmurs about his place as a right-forward in the starting lineup given United’s widely covered pursuit of Jadon Sancho. However, that seems to be his for the taking for the time being and the addition of van de Beek will only further his hopes of getting creative passes to make the most out of with his two-footed instinct.

The Norwegian gaffer appears to be keen on building a young United to retake the club’s old glory and the talent at hand is beyond promising.
