Pogba’s France Teammate Could Replace Him At Manchester United
Manchester United are looking for a potential replacement to Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman has clearly stated that he “dreams” of playing for Real Madrid in the future. This is no new news to United supporters who have been expecting this from quite a while now.
In fact, several reliable sources even pegged that Pogba would have been out of Old Trafford this summer itself had it not been for the economic changes brought in by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As such, the Red Devils could be looking at a future without their prodigal star.
According to AS (via Sportwitness), United are eyeing Pogba’s compatriot Eduardo Camavinga as a likely replacement in the event of his departure.
The 17-year-old is considered one of the hottest midfield prospects and has been linked to several giants. Incidentally, it was Real Madrid who were most expected to secure his signature.
However, the same source now claims that United have now “put in a mechanism” to acquire Camavinga and will pose a great “threat” to Madrid’s hopes of lapping him up.
Incidentally, such a potential move would be quite indicative of the transfer policy that both sides appear to have made their priority as of recent- lapping up young players with massive potential before they have their breakthrough campaign elsewhere.
Presently, the teenager plies his trade of Ligue 1 side Rennes and has made quite a few headlines with his performances despite his age.
The source does peg the Pogba link to be crucial to this potential deal going through, however. This could mean that if Madrid to sign Pogba, their alleged desire to also sign Camavinga will be directly threatened.
The future already appears bright with United’s existing youth options and it will be interesting to see if they are able to add another to their ranks in the next season or so.
