Rashford And Sancho React To Mbappe’s Hat-trick Against Barcelona

PSG displayed excellent heroics away to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. The Round of 16 first-leg encounter ended 1-4 as the La Liga side’s season took a further bad turn.

Lionel Messi opened the scoring at Camp Nou from the penalty spot but the highlight of the game was the excellent hat-trick that Kylian Mbappe netted to secure a dominant away lead going into the next leg. Moise Kean added to the scoreline as well as Ronald Koeman’s side stood toothless.

The hat-trick was well-appreciated by neutral fans, especially given how young Mbappe is and the luck that PSG has had in the competition in the recent past.

However, it is the reaction of two contemporary youngsters that deserve a closer look at.

Marcus Rashford had a simple reaction to the goals netted and it said it all.

 

Further still, Jadon Sancho also had his take on Mbappe’s effort in his tweet. Here too, the brevity spoke volumes.

 

Interestingly, Rashford is joint-tied for the top-scorer’s spot in the Champions League, even though he will now have to ply his trade in the Europa League for the remainder of the season. Sancho has a couple of goals to his name in the competition and with Borussia Dortmund slated to face Sevilla, there is a chance that the side could face Mbappe down the line.

With this hat-trick, Mbappe now has 5 goals in the Champions League alone, with his season’s total tally across competitions now at 21. The 22-year-old Frenchman will certainly be eyeing glory with some interest given how close his side came in the past.

In that regard, it is precisely this kind of performance that he and his teammates will have to ape if they are to attain that ever-elusive European glory.
