Martial & Van de Beek ‘At Risk’ Of Leaving As Sancho Nears Man United Transfer
Man United could offload Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek should the right offer arrive.
The Red Devils are expected to keep hold of their core players, but their response to transfer enquiries made by agents and intermediaries for the likes of Martial and Van de Beek has been that ‘every player has a realistic valuation’, reports ESPN.
The Frenchman fell out of the starting XI back in March when he suffered a knee injury. Since then Martial’s position has been taken over by Edinson Cavani, whose exploits during that period earned him a contract extension.
Moreover, as the move for Jadon Sancho looks more likely to happen as days pass, the risk of falling further down the pecking order grows for the striker. Nobody can blame Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should he choose to move on from the former Monaco man as Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Amad Diallo are already at his service.
On the other hand, the Dutchman struggled to get significant minutes under his belt last season. Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba are currently untouchable in the lineup, meaning van de Beek also remains ‘at risk’.
However, despite having to pull out of the Netherlands squad heading to Euro 2020 due to an injury, the midfielder is said to be determined to stay in England and fight for his place. United do need a backup to Fernandes, so unless the former Ajax star pushes for a move, he might stay in an attempt to take over his teammate’s place in the starting XI.
As of now, it seems like the France international is most likely to bid farewell to Old Trafford. It is suggested that Tottenham Hotspur view him as a potential replacement to Harry Kane, who is sought after by Man City.
