Real Madrid have shown interest in Diogo Dalot, as Carlo Ancelotti plans to ‘rejuvenate’ the Los Blancos defence.

Ancelotti, who replaced Zinedine Zidane at the Real Madrid helm, is tasked with a big rebuild in the Spanish capital.

David Alaba will reunite with his former Bayern Munich boss, replacing Sergio Ramos at the heart of the club’s defence. Meanwhile, Raphael Varane is also expected to leave, and is incidentally linked with a move to Man Utd.

The La Liga giants will be forced to look for another centre-back if they fail to convince Varane to be part of the new chapter in the club’s history.

For now, though, their focus is reportedly on revamping the right-back position, with only Dani Carvajal and Alvaro Odriozola at the new manager’s disposal.

According to Correio de Manha (via SportWitness), Madrid are following Dalot, who was also their subject of interest when he was at FC Porto. Ancelotti was also understood to be targeting the Portuguese full-back for Everton last summer.

At the moment, there’s no mention of an approach from the Spanish outfit for the 22-year-old. Further, the Red Devils have also rejected AC Milan’s request to extend Dalot’s loan spell, with player instructed to report for pre-season training.

However, Man Utd are interested in signing Kieran Trippier from Real Madrid’s city neighbours, and the English right-back’s arrival at Old Trafford could in turn open exit door for the Portugal international.
