Mason Greenwood is looking forward to the ‘good competition’ Jadon Sancho will bring to Manchester United.

The United academy graduate wasn’t at the Euros, withdrawing from the provisional England Euro 2020 squad due to injury. After recovering fully over the summer, he’s back at the Carrington training complex ahead of the new season.

Sancho, who was also at Carrington on Tuesday for his medical, will join his new teammates after a three-weak break. The former Borussia Dortmund man is expected to replace Greenwood at United’s right-wing.

The 19-year-old, meanwhile, will have to compete with both Sancho and Edinson Cavani for game-time on the right and in the middle respectively.

In spite of that, Greenwood is relishing the prospect of competing with quality players for a place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.

“It’s got to be my biggest season yet,” he told United Daily.

“Obviously we brought a new player in and it’s good to have some good competition in the team. Obviously he’s a fantastic player and we’ve got to push more.”

Greenwood is aiming for a big season, and would look to take advantage of starting pre-season training earlier than majority of his teammates.

Incidentally, by the time his competition is ready, the teenage-sensation might just end up doing enough in pre-season to become undroppable name on the team-sheet.

Solskjaer’s men will start their pre-season schedule against Derby County this Sunday.
