Three Players Rangnick Should Drop After His First Three Games In Charge

Ralf Rangnick has probably gotten the feel of the club and players, having managed his first three games. It must be about time he starts to contemplate which player suits his philosophy and who deserves to be dropped.

It is not uncommon for players who were key figures under a previous manager to be out of favour under a new one. And based on performances against Crystal Palace, Young Boys, and Norwich City yesterday, there are definitely certain players who should sit on the bench – at least until they get their acts together.

Let’s take a look at three players that Rangnick should drop for now:

1. Marcus Rashford

The Englishman was undoubtedly Manchester United’s best forward last season. And although Rashford returned from injury seemingly set to continue his form, he hasn’t been able to make any impact under the new management.

The wide man repeatedly struggled to get on top of chances whilst maintaining the press.

Edinson Cavani is the best man in the squad to step in right now whilst the England international takes a step back.

2. Bruno Fernandes

Fernandes was a key player under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. But in the German boss’ system, he no longer has the freedom he used to and has been handed more responsibility. Consequently, the Portuguese’s hands look full as he is unable to cope with playmaking and keeping himself organised during pressing.

Meanwhile, Donny van de Beek is available to fill in that role. The Dutchman might not be a better creator but can certainly stay disciplined positionally.

3. Jadon Sancho

Sancho’s situation hasn’t changed since he signed for United. Under Solskjaer, he had the benefit of the doubt as he was expected to adapt to the Premier League sooner or later.

However, things haven’t looked any brighter since the former RB Leipzig man was brought in.

Jesse Lingard, on the other hand, has impressed with his cameos this season and it’s time to reward him for it.
