Man Utd Stopped Henderson From Moving To Premier League Side On Deadline Day
Man Utd denied Dean Henderson a late loan move to Watford on transfer deadline day.
Henderson, 24, has not featured once in the Premier League this season, having lost his No 1 spot to David de Gea. It appears that he was waiting for January to find a starting role elsewhere.
Ralf Rangnick, however, has always been clear regarding his preference to have three goalkeepers at the club, and unlike the situation with Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek, the interim manager didn’t give his blessings for an exit.
According to the Daily Mail, Watford proposed a loan move in the 11th-hour of deadline day. Allowing Henderson to leave on Monday would’ve left United with no time to find a back up. As such, they snubbed the Premier League relegation strugglers’ approach, much to the English goalkeeper’s disappointment.
Similarly, Jesse Lingard was also left frustrated with United’s decision to not let him leave despite deadline day offers from Newcastle United and West Ham. But due to the developments of last week, including Martial and Amad Diallo’s exits, the Englishman might end up getting increased opportunities in the second half of the season.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, United confirmed Dillon Hoogewerf’s permanent transfer to Borussia Monchengladbach. The winger moved to the club’s academy from Ajax in 2019.
