Ten Hag Keen To Sign Premier League Midfielder On A Free Transfer
Manchester United have joined the race to sign Christian Eriksen, who impressed Erik ten Hag with his performance in the Premier League.
Eriksen moved to Brentford in January, and wasted no time in once again cementing his place amongst the league’s top creators. Only Kevin De Bruyne and Martin Odegaard created more chances in England’s top-flight than the Dane since he made his debut for the Bees.
Now that he’s available on a free transfer, a host of Premier League clubs are interested in securing his services, including Brentford, who have offered to make Eriksen the club’s highest-paid player. United are the latest club to be linked with the creative midfielder.
As per the Mirror, Ten Hag got a close-up view of the 30-year-old’s ability when he allowed him to train with the Ajax squad to build-up his fitness.
Eriksen’s display under Thomas Frank has strengthened the new United manager’s belief that he can be an important part of his project at Old Trafford.
Further, Eriksen isn’t the only midfield reinforcement the Dutch tactician wants at United. He has also asked the club’s hierarchy to sign Frenkie de Jong.
It is understood that United have held direct talks with Barcelona, and are also working on convincing De Jong to move to the Red side of Manchester despite the absence of Champions League football.
