Christian Eriksen is set to join Man Utd on a three year deal following the end of his contract with Brentford.

The Denmark international made his return to competitive football for Brentford in February, and took no time in getting back to his best.

Eriksen racked up four assists in 11 Premier League appearances this season, while only two players created more chances than him since he made his debut for the Bees.

Erik ten Hag, who let the former Ajax midfielder train with his squad in Amsterdam in January, has been adamant to add technically sound midfielders to his United squad. He was impressed with the level Eriksen displayed under Thomas Frank during his short spell with the London based club.

After verbally agreeing to a deal until 2025, the Red Devils are drafting contracts for Eriksen, The Athletic have reported.

For now the 30-year-old is largely being seen as Juan Mata’s replacement, but his quality hasn’t dwindled. He will bring a wealth of creativity at Old Trafford and provide a solid competition for Bruno Fernandes, who’s currently United’s chief playmaker.

Eriksen is also capable of playing in a midfield three and could be started alongside the Portuguese in games where United expect to dominate possession.
