Manchester United are in a reckless spending mode ahead of Liverpool’s visit to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have agreed a deal close to £60m for Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro. It is believed the club’s hierarchy were in a hurry to complete his transfer as soon as possible so that he can feature against Liverpool.

The Brazilian midfielder has already said his goodbyes to his teammates in Madrid, but is yet to arrive in Manchester and won’t officially become a Red Devil in time to face Jurgen Klopp’s men. The last time he came up against the likes of Mo Salah and Thiago, he bossed the midfield and kept a clean sheet to lift the fifth Champions League trophy of his career.

Meanwhile, United have been working on bringing another marquee signing. On Wednesday, the Premier League giants made an €80m offer for Ajax winger Antony, as per David Ornstein. But the Eredivisie side rejected their massive offer.

However, United are expected to make another approach, and there’s a belief that this time they will be successful in their attempts to lure the 22-year-old to Old Trafford.

According to Santi Aouna, United are preparing a new offer, understood to be €80 million plus €20m in add-ons. It could be accepted by Ajax, who have until now maintained they are not keen on losing their talisman.

Antony is tempted by United’s proposal and was unable to train with his current teammates in Amsterdam on Friday, despite leaving the club on Thursday fully fit.
