Manchester United’s recruitment team have spent a fair bit of time in Spain this summer to find players for Erik ten Hag’s rebuild.

John Murtough travelled to Barcelona in July to sign Frenkie de Jong from the Catalan outfit. United managed to find an agreement over De Jong’s fee, but things didn’t materialize on the player’s end due to different reasons. For the moment, the former Ajax midfielder is more likely to stay in Catalonia than shift to England’s north west.

United moved to Madrid in search of a new midfielder, and convinced Casemiro to join Ten Hag’s project. The Brazil international has signed a four-year deal with the Red Devils.

The Dutch boss still needs new attacking options, and is hoping to sign Antony from Ajax. However, if Spanish outlet Relevo are to be believed, United are yet again looking at LaLiga to bolster their squad.

It is reported that the Premier League side are determined to make a formal offer understood to be in the region of €30m for Marco Asensio. But the 26-year-old’s departure is difficult as Carlo Ancelotti requires his services in the Spanish capital.

Having dramatically missed out on Kylian Mbappe, Real find themselves short in attack. Karim Benzema, Vinicius, Eden Hazard, Rodrygo and Asensio are the only reliable options upfront at Ancelotti’s disposal.
