Man United ready to sell midfielder for £20m – Premier League club interested
Manchester United are open to selling midfielder Fred as part of their plan to revamp their midfield, as per reports.
Fred, 30, is attracting interest from Fulham with just 12 months remaining on his contract at Old Trafford. The Brazilian lost his starting place to Christian Eriksen last term and is one of a number of first-team players up for sale.
According to The Telegraph, United want a fee of £20 million for the player, who made just 12 Premier League starts under Erik ten Hag. Fulham are not prepared to meet the asking price and hope that a compromise can be reached given his status at Carrington. Further, it’s believed the former Shakhtar Donetsk man would be willing to work under Marco Silva in London.
Manchester United want to revamp their midfield
Ten Hag is keen to add technically secure and athletic players to his midfield, and is open to cut ties with existing options to fund new signings.
Apart from Fred, Zidane Iqbal is also seemingly on his way out. The Red Devils have accepted a transfer fee of up to €1million from FC Utrecht for their academy midfielder.
As per talkSPORT, Scott McTominay has been told he’s allowed to depart United. West Ham are interested in the Scotland international, as they search for Declan Rice’s replacement.
Rice is of interest to United and it’s understood they are willing to offer McTominay or Harry Maguire in part-exchange for the English midfielder.
Mason Mount is also on Ten Hag’s radar. On Wednesday, United saw their second bid – thought to be in the region of £50m – for the 24-year-old turned down by Chelsea.
