Man United Outcast Wanted By 13 Clubs In January Despite Not Playing In 22 Months

Man United outcast Phil Jones has reportedly been a subject of transfer enquiry from numerous clubs.

The English centre-back’s pause from the game due to injury issues has approached two years, with his last appearance coming against Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup in January 2020.

However, now he’s close to regaining full fitness again, leading to a reported 13 clubs, including Premier League sides Watford and Newcastle United, queuing up for his signature in the upcoming January transfer window.

As per The Sun, Wayne Rooney’s Derby County are also interested, alongside a host of other Championship outfits.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is pleased with Jones’ showings in training, but with the likes of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, and Eric Bailly at his disposal, he’s yet to give Jones any first-team minutes this season. However, the Englishman has featured in behind-closed-doors friendlies.

The Norwegian is likely to take his time before taking a decision on the 29-year-old’s potential departure in January. December is going to be a busy period, and with Varane already on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury, Jones’ services might be required.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer will also have to manage his midfield options carefully after the international break, as Paul Pogba is feared to be out of the action until the New Year after suffering a right thigh injury while taking part in a training session on France duty.
