Ralf Rangnick Is Losing Patience With Manchester United Superstar
Ralf Rangnick’s patience is wearing thin with Cristiano Ronaldo who drew yet another blank at Old Trafford, as Manchester United played out a goalless draw against Watford on Saturday.
The Portuguese superstar has only scored once in 2022, and his movement has not created enough openings for his teammates to find goals either.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the interim boss has ‘major reservations’ about the prospect of Ronaldo leading the line next season.
Rangnick will take on a two-year consultancy role at the end of the season and is likely to have a big say on the 37-year-old’s future come summer.
The German has already admitted the Red Devils need to sign a younger striker in the summer transfer window. But now it seems United will have to look for two new number nines.
Edinson Cavani, whose absence from a groin injury has led to Ronaldo starting four games in the space of 11 days, will also depart Manchester, with his contract set to expire in June.
However, with Erling Haaland likely to move to Spain, there aren’t many top class young options available to spearhead United’s attack. The Premier League giants should explore the possibility of bringing in someone like Karim Benzema as a stop gap instead.
