James Rodriguez’s Social Media Activity Hints At A Transfer Away From Real Madrid
James Rodriguez seems to have dropped an indirect hint regarding his future at Real Madrid via his official Instagram handle.
It is safe to say that the Colombian international has failed to nail a spot in Los Blancos’ starting lineup under Zinedine Zidane’s management, and given the fact that he is discontent with a substitute’s role at the Bernabeu, the 25-year-old is set to depart from the Spanish capital come summer.
He has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe, but Manchester United are being reported as his most-likely destination, despite contrary reports claiming Jose Mourinho is prioritising two targets ahead of the Real Madrid man.
Nonetheless, it remains likely that Rodriguez will leave Real in the upcoming transfer window, with even the player’s stepfather, Juan Carlos Restrepo, claiming that the playmaker will be on the move soon.
“I prefer him to start in a different team than being a substitute at Real Madrid,” Restrepo was quoted as saying.
And now, James seems to have dropped a transfer hint himself, by removing the photo of himself wearing a Real Madrid shirt as his display picture, and replacing it with a snapshot wherein he is pictured wearing his national team jersey.
Footballers are typically seen changing the display pictures of their social media accounts into those wherein they don their national teams kits during the international breaks.
However, James modifying his profile a few days before the most crucial game of Real Madrid’s current season – the Champions League final against Juventus – has surely raised quite a few eyebrows.
This social media activity not only hints at his future away from the La Liga outfit, but it also suggests that Zidane may be set to exclude the midfielder from the starting lineup for the final in Cardiff as well.
