Manchester City are believed to be already shortlisting players to recruit during the next year’s transfer window, and Pep Guardiola has set his sights on Lazio’s Sergej Milinković-Savić as a potential signing for the summer of 2018.

The Spaniard is looking to add a midfielder to his squad, as he feels the need to do so due to Yaya Toure and Fernandinho getting old. Toure is currently playing out the last year of his contract at the Etihad, while Fernandinho is already 33 years of age.

Meanwhile, Savic is a box-to-box, athletic player, who is gifted physically, much like Paul Pogba, who had also made a name in the Serie A with Juventus.

At a towering height of 191 centimeters, Savic is a midfielder who wins everything in the air. Other than that, he also has an eye for passes and goals, as he scored 4 and assisted 7 in a fruitful season with Lazio last year.

Thus, in terms of style of play and his rise in Italian football, the 22-year-old is similar to the Frenchman in many respects. Understandably, Manchester City are trying to sign the talented Serbian international, who was born in Spain.

Sergej Milinković-Savić is rated very highly across Europe, and there were earlier reports of him being linked with Barcelona. However, the Citizens are trying to beat their competition by making some early efforts to sign the player.
