Wenger Reveals How He Feels Watching Sanchez Play For Another Club
Arsene Wenger has admitted that it will be a ‘strange’ feeling watching Alexis Sanchez put on the jersey of another club and face Arsenal.
The Chilean swapped the Emirates for Old Trafford in January in a move that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan go the other way. He had spent three-and-a-half years with the Gunners, scoring 80 goals in 165 appearances.
Wenger and Sanchez enjoyed a good relationship, but the 29-year-old decided to leave the club as he wanted to challenge for trophies, and got an offer that neither he nor the club could refuse.
Now, United take on Arsenal at home on Sunday, in a game which will prove to be Wenger’s last visit to the Theatre of Dreams as Gunners’ boss, having confirmed that he will leave the club at the end of the season.

It will be the first time Sanchez will face off against his former side, and Wenger has opened up about what it will feel like to see him line up in the red of Manchester United instead of Arsenal.

“At the time he did not accept our contract offer and the best possible way where we could get something from his departure was to make an exchange for the player of the quality of Mkhitaryan,” Wenger told arsenal.com.
“For him, it was a move to another big club. Overall, both parties had interest to do what happened. ‘Of course [it will be little bit strange to face Alexis]. The only thing that he has not changed is the colour, that’s still red.
“It’s strange for me to see him in a different shirt because he had a strong bond with the club and of course he was here for a few years. He did extremely well for us.”
