Scott McTominay has his say on who Manchester United’s next breakout star is going to be.

The Englishman himself is a product of the United academy. Although McTominay took quite a while before settling in into the squad, since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he’s made himself a valuable addition to the team.

So it comes as no surprise that the midfielder knows the academy inside out and what it takes to make it to the top level; afterall having been through the entire process. According to the youngster, Tahith Chong has the potential to be the next breakout star at Old Trafford.

When quizzed by SportsBible about who in his opinion would become his side’s next ‘star,’ the centre-midfielder said: “I’ll go with Chongy, because I’ve seen what Chongy’s like as a boy, as an athlete, and he’s got a big future.”

Chong has always been one of the most exciting prospects the Red Devils could boast of, but he has always fallen short when it comes to senior team action. As of now, Mason Greenwood and Daniel James are ahead of him in the pecking order and should Jadon Sancho arrive, life only gets harder for the winger.

Recently, the young forward managed to impress as a fullback against LASK in the Europa League as competition for the spot on the right flank is rather tough as it stands.

Nevertheless, the Mancunians do not intend on losing or stagnating their future ‘star’ and may send him on loan to Germany.

Werder Bremen are said to be bracing themselves for the departure of Milot Rashica and the Dutchman admittedly fits the profile required to replace him, as per Bremen chief Frank Baumann.

Thus a season-long loan may be on the cards for the youngster soon enough. And with senior team players already having put their faith in the 20-year-old, this move could be the catalyst to unlocking his potential.
