PSG’s Laurent Blanc Emerges As Surprise Candidate To Succeed Van Gaal At Man Utd

Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc has emerged as the shock candidate in contention to replace Louis van Gaal at Old trafford.

The former France international, who spent the final two years of his playing career at Old Trafford, is being lined up as a replacement for under-pressure Louis van Gaal along with Jose Mourinho and the current assistant manager Ryan Giggs, claims the Daily Star.

Blanc is also said to be loved by Sir Alex Ferguson, who signed him for the Red Devils and is now working as a club director.

The paper discussed the possibility to lure PSG boss away from Paris: “It would be difficult to prise Blanc away from Paris, who he has just guided to a last-16 Champions League victory over Chelsea. But United would have a special appeal. And the Red Devils are also being linked with Blanc’s charismatic PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 34, who is out of contract at the end of the season.”

The 50-year-old, known as ‘Le President,’ joined the Paris club in 2013 and will win a third straight Ligue 1 title by beating Troyes on Sunday, with eight games to spare. His side also eliminated Chelsea from the Champions League in midweek, as they continue their pursuit to win the major European crown.

However, the paper also added that the United hierarchy are still backing the Dutchman, despite another sub-standard display at Anfield against Liverpool last Thursday.
