Jose Mourinho Visits Manchester United Training Headquarters For The First Time
After months and months of speculation, Jose Mourinho was finally announced as Manchester United’s brand new manager on Friday, as he replaced the Dutchman Louis van Gaal at the helm of the Old Trafford club. And following the weekend after the official announcement, Jose Mourinho visited Carrington – Manchester United’s training HQ – for the first time earlier today.
The Special One, accompanied by long-time assistant Rui Faria, was given a tour of the entire AON training complex by United chief executive Ed Woodward. The Portuguese tactician visited his office, the first team training pitches, and met with his fellow associates, the Carrington employees and also the United legend: Sir Bobby Charlton.
Sir Bobby welcomed Mourinho to the club, and also wished him luck and congratulated him on the United job. Jose also joked with the English legend, as the 53-year-old reminded Sir Bobby about his brace against Portugal in the 1966 World Cup, that shattered the dreams and broke the hearts of millions of Portuguese fans.
Mourinho will begin working at Carrington and meet the United squad for the first time in the first week of July, and they will then head to China for the summer pre-season tour by the 19th of July.
Here’s a video of the entire visit, posted by the official Manchester United twitter account:
