The German legend, who arrived at Manchester United from Bayern Munich last summer, had a very average season. He took part in only 19 games, as injuries kept him out for the majority of the campaign.
With a squad overhaul already taking place under José Mourinho, it is expected that Manchester United will have to part ways with Schweinsteiger.
But according to the Sun, Manchester United will have to pay out the remaining £14m of Schweinsteiger’s contract just to get rid of him.
Schweinsteiger, who recently married Tennis star Ana Ivanovic after getting knocked out by the hosts in the freshly concluded Euros, has had offers from numerous clubs, including Ligue 1 champions PSG, and Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
It has to be seen whether the United top brass will sanction this transfer, seeing its financial implications.
