Antonio Valencia Hints At Marouane Fellaini Exit

Antonio Valencia may have just confirmed that Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini is “moving on” with this Instagram post.

Marouane Fellaini and Antonio Valencia played together in Manchester United’s last pre-season match against Galatasaray. The Red Devils thumped their Turkish opposition, netting five goals during the match. Fellaini managed to get his name on the score sheet, while Antonio Valencia registered three assists.

Marouane’s future has been in doubt ever since Jose Mourinho took charge of the Red Devils. The Belgian is supposedly part of a list of nine players who are set to face the axe this season.

Antonio Valencia recently posted a picture of him and his Belgian teammate sharing a fist-bump. But he captioned the picture: “Seguir adelante no es la única opción… pero es la mejor decisión,” which translates to: “Forward is not the only option … but it is the best decision.”

Valencia may have just indicated that the Belgian midfielder is soon headed out of the club.

Marouane joined Manchester United as the first major signing since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. The manager at the time was David Moyes, who previously worked with the 28-year-old at Everton.

Fellaini has not made much of an impact on the squad since his arrival. Moyes attempted to use him as a defensive midfielder due to his physical presence, but his attempts failed. The giant Belgian instead preferred a more attacking role in the squad, but found himself down the pecking order for that postition due to the presence of Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata.

And now, it looks like Mourinho will offload him this summer. The imminent arrival of Paul Pogba may also be a sign that Marouane is on his way out.

Reports claim that Sunderland are interested in Fellaini’s services. This comes as no surprise, as David Moyes is now in charge of the Black Cats. A potential reunion between Fellaini and Moyes, therefore, remains on the tables.
