Eric Bailly has reportedly requested Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho to sign Franck Kessie this summer.

The Atalanta midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the January window, but Antonio Conte failed snap up the 20-year-old.

Italian giants Roma and Inter Milan are also keeping tabs on the Ivorian who is regarded as the ‘next Yaya Toure’. It is believed Kessie may well cost around £25million and Conte is most likely to reignite his interest at the end of the season.

Manchester United, meanwhile, sent scouts to watch Kessie play for the Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations. And now, according to a report from The Sun, Jose Mourinho have been alerted to Kessie by his compatriot Eric Bailly.

A source close to Old Trafford told the paper: “Bailly has flagged his international pal Kessie to the club. He thinks he could be the new Yaya.

“He was watched during the AFCON and they like what they see. There is other clubs looking at him as well.”

Interestingly, when asked about his future earlier this week, Kessie said: “I’m very flattered that clubs of that level are interested in me, that proves I’ve had a good season and I’m continuing to progress.

“I don’t want to go to fast. I don’t know if my club has had any offers, and I’m under contract. We’ll see if there’s anything we need to discuss.”

Kessie has been enjoying an impressive form for the Italian club this season, and has served a key role in Atalanta’s improved run of form, which helped them level on points with Inter Milan in Serie A, in fifth position.

The young midfielder joined Atalanta from Cesena in 2015, but spent last term back on loan at the Serie B club. Since returning to the Lombardy-based club in the summer he is stunning form and now attracting interest from some of the Europe’s elite clubs.
