Manchester United have had some of the best players ply their trade at the club over the years but not many of the current squad have been at the club for a long time.

But one player who has completed more than a decade at Old Trafford is midfielder Michael Carrick. The veteran Englishman has been influential in United’s run in all competitions this season, which his 11th at the club in his career.

And the Red Devils have decided to hold a testimonial match to mark his 11 years at the club.

Manchester United 2008 XI will play a Michael Carrick All-Star XI on June 4 to mark Carrick’s 11 years at United and former players Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez could be back at Old Trafford after a long time for this game.

The likes of Edwin van der Sar, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, who all started the 2008 Champions League final against Chelsea in Moscow, have been confirmed.

And Carrick has today revealed that he has spoken to the Argentine and the Portuguese international and has asked them to be a part of this game.

Tevez, who is currently busy in China, has failed to retain the faith of the Old Trafford faithful after his move to Manchester City, but he has provided some of the best memories for the club and it will be a joy to watch him dawn the Red Devils shirt for the first time after swapping it for the Blue of Manchester.

Cristiano Ronaldo, on the other hand, has been close to the United faithful and has enjoyed a decent relationship with the fans, even after a move to the Bernabeu.

Speaking to the media recently, Carrick revealed that he spoke to Tevez about this game and that he could be busy with club commitments which might see him skip this game.

Carrick said: “I had contact with Carlos before he went to China and he said he would have loved to played but didn’t know where he would be playing so he didn’t know. That’s part of the reason I can’t confirm it’s the whole team because some of the lads are doing different things.

“From 2008, for everyone, there’s loads gone on but whatever has gone on, you can’t take that away, that feeling we had and what we achieved together,” he added.

He went on to say that he also approached Cristiano Ronaldo in Spain for this game and that the Champions League final, which will be played on the 3rd of June, could see him also skip this game.

“It would be great to get every single player together. I’ve spoken to Ronaldo but it’s the Champions League final the day before. Who knows. There’s a reason I can’t say 100 per cent who everyone is going to be there. But most of them will be there,” Carrick added.

Do you think the fans will be able to watch both Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez in a United jersey again this summer?
