Benfica Goalkeeper Targeted As The Potential Replacement Of David De Gea
There is no denying the fact that David de Gea’s transfer speculation is hanging in the midst of nowhere, as there is no security as to whether he will stay at Old Trafford next season or not.
But Manchester United, on their part, will have to be assured that they have a trusted pair of hand in between the stick if they tend to challenge for the title. And all this has brought them to get linked with Benfica’s goalkeeper Ederson.
News outlet A Bola has claimed that De Gea could be shipped off to Santiago Bernabeu next season, hence, the speculation of Ederson does make sense. He has done very well for Benfica this season, keeping 14 clean sheets in just 22 league outings.

Furthermore, some reports also suggested that the Manchester United’s scouts attended almost every Benfica match since January and Ederson is not the only player on their list. Defenders Victor Lindelof and Nelson Semedo have been long touted as the potential arrivals at Old Trafford.
But what makes Ederson’s transfer to Manchester United more complicated is the fact that Guardiola’s Manchester City are also in the picture.
Back in March, Metro Sport reported that Guardiola told the 23-year-old stopper that he is City’s priority this summer. And with Claudio Bravo failing to deliver the expected goods and Willy Caballero not getting any younger, Ederson certainly will be a good edition for the Citizens.
It will now be interesting to see where this young Brazilian ends up next season.
