Real Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo might soon be facing the challenge of being ousted by Kylian Mbappe, if the Monaco star manages to secure a stunning move to the Spanish capital.

Los Blancos are looking to maintain their reign in Spain after last season’s Champions League and La Liga double. The Spanish giants are hoping for a successful transfer window, as they aim to strengthen their squad even more.

Real have seemingly identified Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe as their top target this summer, after a glamorous breakthrough season in Ligue 1.

The youngster netted 26 goals across all competitions to help his side secure the league title for the French side, playing a vital role in inspiring Leonardo Jardim’s men clinch their first title in 17 years.

Understandably, the 18-year-old has caught the attention of the Spanish champions, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal also interested.

Meanwhile, the reigning Ballon d’Or winner is said to be threatened by Mbappe, as the French international is willing to challenge the Portuguese for the spotlight at the Bernabeu. According to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, Ronaldo is fully aware of the Monaco star’s ambition of becoming the new face of the European champions.

Interestingly, reports suggest that the winger’s stay at the club depends on Real sorting out his tax issues. That, along with the threat imposed by Mbappe to his star spot, makes it intriguing to wonder how Ronaldo will handle the situation.

Though a possible return to Old Trafford was suggested should he depart, Man Utd officials are reportedly not pursuing the 32-year-old any longer.

While Zinedine Zidane is keen on getting Mbappe’s signature, it could pave the way for a move to PSG, who are looking to rise back stronger after a poor first season under Unai Emery.
