Eduardo Camavinga To Man United: Rennes Open To Negotiate €30m Deal
Man United are making progress on the Eduardo Camavinga transfer, with Rennes reportedly open to negotiate on a potential €30m fee.
The Frenchman is emerging as United’s main target to strengthen their midfield for next season. A meeting between the Premier League side and Camavinga’s entourage allegedly took place last week.
Now, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided further updates on the Red Devils’ pursuit of the highly-rated midfield prospect.
United are believed to be making progress in direct contacts for Camavinga, as Rennes look to cash-in on their prized asset to avoid losing him for nothing.
With just 12 months left to run on the 18-year-old’s current contract, the Ligue 1 outfit would be open to negotiate on a potential €30m fee this summer. However, Paris Saint-Germain – the France international’s preferred destination – remain interested in his services, and could spoil the English side’s plan if they decide to make any advances.
Such is the hype surrounding Camavinga’s skillset that he’s often referred to as ‘the new Pogba’, and is viewed as the latter’s replacement whenever he’s linked with a move to United.
Nevertheless, Romano has clarified any deal for the Rennes prodigy has nothing to do with Paul Pogba’s future, opening doors for the possibility of a French midfield partnership at Old Trafford next season.
Additionally, the arrival of exciting talents like Jadon Sancho and Camavinga alongside might help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer convince one of the best players of Euro 2020 to extend his stay at a club where he himself arrived as a midfield-prospect from France two years younger than Camavinga’s current age.
