West Ham have set their sights on Scott McTominay to rejuvenate their midfield following Declan Rice’s exit.
The Hammers agreed to let go of their youth product and first-team star Rice to London rivals Arsenal in a record transfer for a British player. The club’s hierarchy stood their ground well during negotiations, compelling Mikel Arteta’s side to pay a fixed fee of £100m and commit a further £5m in add-ons.
However, the 24-year-old was David Moyes’ most important player and it is going to be very tough for him to fill his void. And it’s certainly not going to be cheap for a club that has just secured a big transfer fee.

According to the Telegraph, the London outfit are considering a move for United’s academy star, who is admired by Moyes. But they would need to pay around £45 million to convince United to consider his exit.
McTominay isn’t a regular under Erik ten Hag and was only handed 10 starts in the Premier League last term. But the manager is happy to keep him at the club next season, and only a big offer would be entertained by the Red Devils. The Scotland international, meanwhile, loves United but also wants an important role in the Dutch coach’s squad for the next season.

Ten Hag is also monitoring Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat and would have to raise funds from sales to make any new addition to his midfield.
However, that doesn’t mean United will actively try to offload McTominay for their pursuit of the Morocco midfielder, as they are hoping to improve their transfer budget by selling Fred, who is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.
